Susan Daniel, O.D.

Neuro-Developmental  Optometrist




Dr. Susan Daniel has been in private practice since 1992 at Daniel and Davis Optometry, now part of Total Vision LLC. She obtained her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of California at Davis in 1987 and her Doctor of Optometry degree at the Southern California College of Optometry in 1991. She is licensed to provide tele-health vision therapy services in California, Arizona and Nevada.


She has dedicated her practice to helping neurodivergent, apraxic and non-speaking populations with diagnostic and therapeutic treatments of visual disorders such as ocular-motor, focusing, eye-teaming and perceptual-motor skill delays.


Dr. Daniel is a consultant for the San Diego Spellers Center and other Spellers Method Providers throughout the United States. She is featured in the 4th episode of the television series called, Underestimated: The Heroic Rise of Non-Speaking Spellers. The episode highlights two non-speakers with Down Syndrome and their Spelling journey. (www.underestimated.tv.) 


She provides vision therapy services to San Diego County School Districts and is a consultant for the Tri-City Medical Center and Scripps Brain Injury Rehabilitation Departments. Dr. Daniel is Past-President of the Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation Association and a frequent speaker at educational conferences domestically and internationally.  Her professional goals are to teach and encourage other neuro-developmental optometrists to work with non-speakers and to help as many children and adults as possible who need her services to improve their quality of life.


She is happily married to optometrist, Dr. Christopher Davis and is blessed to have three adult daughters, Rachel, Liz and Elaina and son, Matthew who is a Speller. She enjoys basketball, sewing and travel in her spare time.
